there is nothing like
traveling to another place
& breaking through
those boundaries of the present space
to free yourself of what constricts you
and for me
being in new orleans
that gritty city
of elegant decay
where the eccentric have the upper hand
shatters all former confines
leaving me open to the sheer raw rich mysterious pulse
filling my heart with innumerable incidental beauty
allowing me to breathe again
to fall back into myself . . .
